Surprise balls are one of the best gift ideas because it’s not just about the trinkets inside but also the excitement of unravelling them! Our latest novelty surprise ball idea seemed like an obvious one- so we felt it had to be done! Click through for the instructions…
Materials needed: Tiny gifts, crepe paper streamers, 1” circle hole punch, washi tape, color cardstock, gold glitter cardstock, hot glue gun, scissors
Step 1: Gather a variety of tiny gifts to wrap in the surprise ball. Starting with the largest item, begin to wrap them with the crepe paper streamer. Continue to wrap the big item until it’s completely wrapped. Start with the second item and continue wrapping it until you have a ball shape, then add a tab of washi tape to secure the end of the streamer to the ball.
Step 2: Cut out the details from the cardstock by using the hole puncher for the circle and a scissor for the side details. Accordion fold the “wings” so they have a 3D effect.
Step 3: Fold a contrasting crepe paper streamer in half, so you get half of the width. Repeat with a white paper streamer. Layer the color and the white paper streamer and glue the start to the back of the ball.
Step 4: Begin wrapping the ball. Once you’ve reached the top, twist the paper twice and continue to the back. Twist again at the back, adding a bit of glue to hold it in place. Repeat until you have six bands.
Step 4: Attach the cardstock details with the hot glue gun. You’re all done!
