Klain is one of Biden's closest confidants and first worked for the Democrat in 1989 when he was a U.S. senator. A fierce critic of Republican President Donald Trump's handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Klain was expected to be a key figure in Biden's response to the health crisis. “Ron has been invaluable to me over the many years that we have worked together, including as we rescued the American economy from one of the worst downturns in our history in 2009 and later overcame a daunting public health emergency in 2014,” Biden said in a statement.

CS Plays 15 Minutes of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

It’s finally here! After months of teases and trailers and gameplay, we finally got our hands on a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales — for the PS4. Not the PS5. Sorry. The lady at Target said they only had four in stock and that they sold out that day, which begs the question: why does Target only have five of the most sought after item of the holiday season? Did anyone learn a thing from those damned Furbies?

Anyways, so far the game is a blast. The opening level does a great job showing off the game’s stunning visuals while simultaneously helping players get back into the swing of 2018’s Spider-Man. Players start the game chasing down Rhino alongside Spidey, and learn a few new things about Morales’ new hero along the way. It’s great Spidey fun mixed a barrage of destructive action! The Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli-created character originally appeared in Insomniac’s 2018 game as a playable character, though it wasn’t until the end of the primary story mode of the game in which Morales was bitten by a radioactive spider, therein setting up the long-rumored sequel.

Insomniac’s 2018 game was a surprise smash hit upon release, earning praise for its dynamic narrative and character development alongside its combat and web-swinging traversal mechanics, with only mild criticisms being directed at the open-world design of the game. It was compared favorably to Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham game series and has been frequently named one of the best superhero games ever made and became one of the fastest-selling games of the year and one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games of all time.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to hit shelves for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in select markets on November 12, followed by a November 19 international release for the latter console.

Space Force lands season 2 renewal at Netflix

After initially receiving mixed reviews from critics but solid reviews from audiences in its first season, Netflix has elected to greenlight a second season of the Steve Carell-starring comedy Space Force from The Office creator Greg Daniels, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

With the series already proving to be a pricey effort in its first season given its starry cast and Los Angeles-based shoot, Netflix has chosen to move production from LA to Vancouver with filming slated to begin sometime next year. In addition, in hopes of finding a more-acclaimed creative path, frequent Daniels collaborator Norm Hiscock (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation) has joined the series as co-showrunner with co-star Jimmy O. Yang (Fantasy Island) also joining the writers room.

The streaming service gave Space Force a straight-to-series order, which is described as a workplace comedy focusing on a group of people who must develop a sixth branch of the military, inspired by President Trump’s desire to develop a “Space Force” military branch.

The series is led by Golden Globe winner Steve Carell (The Office) as General Mark R. Naird and John Malkovich (Bird Box) as Dr. Adrian Mallory. It will also star Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Diana Silvers (Booksmart, Ma) as Erin Naird, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as F. Tony Scarapiducci, Yang as Dr. Chan Kaifang, Tawny Newsome as Angela Ali and Alex Sparrow as Bobby Telatovich.

Space Force marks the reunion between Carell and The Office creator Greg Daniels. Carell and Daniels co-created the series together and are executive producing alongside 3 Arts’ Howard Klein, whom the two previously worked with on the acclaimed NBC comedy that ran for eight years. The series also served as Carell’s first major comeback to comedy after 7 years since departing The Office in 2013.

Netflix has been streaming The Office for years and ratings are reportedly higher than many of its original series on the service and picked the show up upon hearing of the project before it could be shopped to any other networks.

Peter Stormare teases potential Constantine sequel in development

After rumors began swirling earlier this year that a new live-action film centered on the DC Comics character was in the works at Warner Bros. and Bad Robot Productions, Constantine star Peter Stormare has taken to Instagram with the tease a sequel to the Keanu Reeves-starring adaptation is currently in the works.

Based on the DC Comics’ Hellblazer comic book created by Alan Moore, Stephen R. Bissette, and John Ridgway and written by Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis (among other notable writers who have contributed to the series), the 2005 movie adaptation follows John Constantine (Reeves), a cynical supernatural exorcist and demonologist with the ability to perceive and communicate with half-angels and half-demons in their true form. Constantine, who is seeking salvation from eternal damnation in Hell for a suicide attempt in his youth, exorcises demons back to Hell to earn favor with Heaven but has become weary over time. He eventually helps a police detective (Rachel Weisz) to prove her sister’s death was not a suicide while simultaneously unraveling a much larger and darker plot.

The movie, written by Kevin Brodbin and Frank A. Cappello from a story by Kevin Brodbin, also starred Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, Gavin Rossdale, and Peter Stormare.

A rumor recently surfaced that a new live-action film focused on the sorcerer is in development at Warner Bros. Though it’s currently unclear as to who would star in the film as Constantine, given the recent cult following surrounding Reeves’ initially derided outing and his resurgence in popularity at the box office with the John Wick franchise and the forthcoming The Matrix 4 and Bill and Ted Face the Music, as well as the 55-year-old’s continued desire to reprise the role, it’s entirely possible WB would look to him to star in the film.

Industry, Series Premiere: The cutthroat world of international finance is seen through the eyes of a talented outsider fighting to prove her worth in this exhilarating HBO drama series. Myha’la Herrold stars as Harper Stern, the determined young woman who finds herself among a group of enterprising young graduates vying to secure their futures at Pierpoint & Co., a leading bank in London. The first episode is available to stream now on HBO Max with new episodes airing weekly on Monday nights.

Valley of Tears, Series Premiere: The series is inspired by the true events of the 1973 Yom Kippur War in Israel. Leading up to the ultimate battle, the series follows young combatants thrust into a war that was later revealed could have been avoided by leaders they blindly trusted. The White Queen and Strike Back: Vendetta star Otto Farrant leads the cast as Rider. The first season is now available to stream on IMDb TV (also available as a channel on Amazon Prime Video).

The South Westerlies, US Series Premiere: Little lies lead to bigger truths in this charming Irish dramedy. The Umbrella Academy, Season 3: Netflix has officially renewed The Umbrella Academy for a third season! Production is expected to start next year in February. The first two seasons are available to stream now.

Alex Rider, Season 2: IMDb TV has renewed the series adaptation Alex Rider for a second season which will be based on author Anthony Horowitz’s fourth novel in the franchise, Eagle Strike. Production is expected to begin early next year. The first season is available to stream now on IMDb TV.

Fox News Parts Ways With John Solomon, Architect of Trump’s Ukraine Conspiracies

After a tumultuous year at Fox News that included the network’s own “Brain Room” warning hosts and anchors not to trust his “disinformation,” pro-Trump columnist John Solomon is no longer a paid contributor with the network.A Fox News spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Beast that Solomon is no longer affiliated with the conservative cable outlet. Solomon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.While Solomon’s hits on Fox News have dried up in recent months—he has not appeared since July—he has remained a regular presence on the Fox Business Network’s stridently pro-Trump shows hosted by Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo. In his recent appearances, he has been identified solely as the editor-in-chief of his right-wing digital outlet Just The News, or as the author of Fallout, his latest book, which was heartily endorsed by President Donald Trump.The last time he was identified as a Fox contributor on its airwaves was during an Oct. 14 appearance on Bartiromo’s morning FBN show. Solomon’s Twitter account does not list Fox News in his bio.Fox News Internal Document Bashes Pro-Trump Fox Regulars for Spreading ‘Disinformation’After a long journalistic career that included stints at The Washington Times, The Washington Post, and The Daily Beast, Solomon came to prominence in the right-wing media ecosystem following Trump’s election.As the chief creative officer for Circa News, he teamed up with current Fox News contributor Sara Carter on a number of articles that set the table for Trumpworld’s “Spygate” narrative, resulting in his becoming a fixture on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program.After joining The Hill as executive vice president of digital video in 2017, Solomon’s questionable reporting—which repeatedly pushed narratives that Trump was the victim of a liberal “deep state” plot—caused tension in the newsroom, prompting The Hill to move him to the opinion side in 2018. Despite Solomon’s own employer labeling his work as strictly “opinion,” Hannity would continue to call Solomon an “investigative reporter” during his guest appearances, despite Fox management reportedly telling him to stop.At the height of the impeachment drama over Trump attempting to coerce Ukraine to investigate his own political opponent, Joe Biden, Fox News officially hired Solomon as an on-air contributor in Oct. 2019. The network’s timing on his hire was especially eyebrow-raising as the journalist had just been repeatedly named in the impeachment whistleblower’s complaint, prompting Solomon’s colleagues to unload on him.Solomon’s opinion pieces at The Hill, meanwhile, helped fuel Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s efforts to dig up dirt on now-President-elect Joe Biden, something that was laid out in full during the impeachment hearings. After it was revealed that Solomon had been in frequent contact with Giuliani and his Ukrainian associates, The Hill’s editor-in-chief Bob Cusack announced that the newspaper was “conducting a meticulous review” of Solomon’s columns on Ukraine.Solomon would leave The Hill at the end of 2019 in order to start his own conservative media venture, Just The News. In Feb. 2020, The Hill’s internal investigation found that Solomon published misleading columns and the paper shouldn’t have presented them as news articles.
